Power Transmission

Power Transmission is the bulk movement of electrical energy from a generating site/power plant to an electrical substation. Interactive lines that facilitate this movement are called Transmission networks. This transmission network is known as the "power grid" in the United Kingdom, India, Malaysia and New Zealand, the network also known as "National Grid".

Power transmission is the movement of energy from its place of generation to a location where it is applied to perform useful. Transmission in Power System is the long bundle conductor, is able to carry bulk amount of Power generated in Station house from higher potential to lower potential. In transmission line determination of voltage drop, transmission efficiency, line loss etc. are important things to design. These values are affected by line parameter R, L and C of the transmission line. Length wise transmission lines are three types

Transmission lines in India are owned by Powergrid Corporation India Limited, the country's largest power company,
Like the rest countries, India has split the distribution business from the electricity transmission business to liberalize the electricity market regime in the early 1990's.
